I know, I know. You thought I gave up way too quickly didn't you? Fortunately for you, I still have a lot of love and creativity to share. I do feel like I owe an explanation at this point and should share my key learnings about the process of starting a blog.
1) It is really hard to start a blog during the holidays. Like - REALLY HARD. Blogging takes way more planning and dedication than I could have ever realized. It is so much fun to be creative and build content, but you need some time to get the swing of things. The holidays throw in a whole new element if you are traveling and visiting family.
2) Trying to start a blog going into Winter is demotivating. There's not a ton of incentive to take photos outside in the cold. I did it multiple times with Boss Lady Whitney and it was really challenging to motivate myself to suck it up and do it again.
3) Don't start a blog if you are in the middle of buying a house and planning a trip to Europe. Just don't do it.
4) I sound like a record of excuses, I know. But I share these things to bring us to the most important point. DON'T LET PEOPLE DISCOURAGE YOU. You can't give in a single ounce of your being into caring about what others think. People quickly started making fun of my 'new modeling career' and condescendingly asking me about this journey I have embarked upon. There is also part of me that feels narcissistic posting photos of myself and my clothes, taking photos in my city square and things of that nature. You know what though? It makes me happy and it allows me to engage in creativity that I thoroughly enjoy. I wish I could remember the blogger who's story I read a few weeks ago -- but she had a similar experience when starting her blog 3 years ago. She has made it into a full time career with a staff of 3. People discouraged her but she persevered and has seen some great success. I have no idea where this blog will take me but long term, but I will never know if I let the thoughts of others to allow me to give up.
Needless to say I'm back. I hope this non-conventional post gets you pumped and excited for the fun to come. I will be using the next few weeks to plan some fresh content and build great posts for you.
You do you. Be the wild child you were meant to be. Take risks and believe in yourself. xoxo
